Dieter Roth is most notably associated with “Eat Art”. He was fascinated by the uncontrollable and saw something truthful in the processes of decomposition that his organic material works were exposed to. He therefore allowed the unpredictable input of third parties, leading to his “Collaborations”. Similar to Beuys, he developed his objects without any aesthetic concerns. Equal validation of both life and art characterizes his oeuvre.
