Wolfgang Ernst’s spectacular early exhibitions and actions, e.g. “Publikum(s)sprenger” (1969) with Valie Export and Peter Weibel in Munich, were, in the 1970s, displaced by works more and more defined by scriptural concepts. Graphic characters, rhythmic graffitos as well as music are included in his graphic and sculptural works. Ernst’s book cover designs underlie an intensive involvement in the work of the respective authors. This dedication progressively manifests in his own texts.
