Kurt Kren

* 1929 in Vienna (AT)
† 1998 in Vienna (AT)

Kurt Kren's film career began in the early 1950s, when he made experimental short films in 8-mm and later in 16-mm format. He was active in the field of Viennese Actionism and was repeatedly engaged by Muehl and Brus to film their actions. Kren, however, did not document, but rather approached the events with the means of structural film. His complete oeuvre, including "Schatzi" (1968), comprises about 50 films, no more than three hours of material.
